EMC Certification of 200 kW Integrated Servo Press: Upholding Integrity, Pursuing Perfection, and Gaining EMC Breakthroughs

The 200 kW integrated servo press is SynMatic's first product to apply for CE certification, among which EMC certification is a critical section. EMC certification consists of a total of 14 test items, with the RE test being the most challenging one. (The RE test evaluates the intensity of electromagnetic interference emitted by the product into the surrounding environment through spatial radiation.) Electromagnetic interference is inevitably generated during operation of our product, and such interference can only be mitigated but cannot be completely eliminated. Since the product has been delivered in batches, it is impossible to modify the design to suppress interference from the source. Instead, we can only add peripheral improvement measures.

Upholding integrity: In the certification testing industry, fraud and deception may occur in many cases. For instance, some manufacturers develop prototype products that meet certification requirements, but they may cut corners and lower standards when it comes to mass production. In contrast, we established principles of authenticity and reliability at the very outset of the certification testing process. Our products must truly comply with the required standards and also meet the requirements of mass production, which has imposed extremely high requirements on us.

Pursuing perfection: Throughout the EMC certification testing process, we have consistently explored ways to meet the certification testing requirements at the lowest possible cost. Every additional component means a cost increase, which reduces the product's competitiveness and also challenges our original commitment to upholding integrity.

Beyond these challenges, due to the tight schedule of the entire certification testing and the difficulty in securing RE testing resources at a third-party laboratory, the tests could only be scheduled after 18:00. To achieve our goals, we made thorough planning and preparations in advance. First, we ensured compliance with the requirements; then we optimized the design by removing unnecessary measures as many as possible. Eventually, through collective efforts, we met the certification testing requirements with almost no additional costs incurred. Walking out of the laboratory at 4 a.m., we were exhausted yet filled with a profound sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.

By the end of June 2022, with the joint efforts of all parties, all EMC certification testing items were successfully completed as scheduled. This also enabled our company to obtain the CE certification for the first time in July of the same year, along with the certificate issued by TÜV SÜD. Though the road ahead is long and arduous, as long as we keep forging ahead unremittingly, we will surely reach our destination, and a promising future awaits us.
